This is a picture of Lake Huron during the sunrise and full moon sunset on the Shore of Thessalon First Nation about 5 minutes from Mkomose’s home.
Mkomose lives in the traditional territory of his Anishinaabe Ancestors, in Thessalon First Nation, which is located on the North Shore of Lake Huron. He regularly goes down to the edge of the Lake to make offerings to the Ancestors. Mkomose is also supporting the development of a community in Mississauga First Nation where Anishinaabe Elders can teach community members the knowledge and practices of the ancestors. Mkomose is water and through sweats, moon cycle offerings, and singing ancient ceremonial songs to the lake he continues to uphold his responsibilities to heal the waters.
